A male patient undergoes non-surgical hair loss treatment with Dr. Zuckerman in New York City.
For non-surgical hair loss treatment, Dr. Zuckerman will inject platelet rich plasma (PRP), a component of the blood, into the scalp. This treatment is most commonly performed on male patients who would like to address male pattern baldness and works well when combined with hair growth stimulant medication. This is a distinct treatment and requires different techniques than microneedling and laser skin resurfacing for facial rejuvenation. Initially, this hair loss treatment requires monthly applications for six months, and aftewards a maintenance treatment once per quarter.
Dr. Zuckerman recommends an initial course of treatments monthly for six months and every three months thereafter.
Treatment lasts three to six months.
30 minutes per treatment
Dr. Zuckerman recommends patients take the following precautions before undergoing this treatment to minimize bruising: no NSAIDs such aspirin or ibuprofen within a couple days before a day after, don’t drink alcohol to excess a day before and a day before, refraining from lying flat or working out within 2 hours after injection.
Patients’ scalp may appear irritated or red immediately post treatment, but such issues should resolve within 24 – 48 hours.
