Stretch marks after pregnancy or from previous weight gain are a tough problem. While many homeopathic remedies are available purporting to produce results, there is no topical treatment that has been shown to eliminate stretch marks. These dermal tears don’t occur in everyone and are influenced by skin elasticity, the ability to stretch, and genetics. Stretch marks are caused by the tearing of the deepest layer of the skin, the dermis, and its subsequent healing. These dermal scars are located beneath the outer layers of the skin, which makes them difficult to address. While a tummy tuck is not meant specifically to address stretch marks on the abdomen, it most often will by eliminating the excess tissue itself in which the stretch marks are present.
A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a transformative plastic surgery option for those with excess skin or fat, muscle separation, etc after a pregnancy or due to weight loss. I can help you recover a smooth hourglass based contour with this transformative surgery. As part of the operation, I remove skin and fat below the level of the belly button. As a result, any stretch marks that are currently above the belly button will be transferred much lower on the abdomen, to just above your incision line. Any current stretch marks below the belly button will be removed entirely. Along with the dramatic tightening of the abdominal contour, this should represent a significant improvement. The tummy tuck scar will be at a similar level to a C-section scar, though will extend quite a bit further to both sides, to just below the hip bones if properly placed. This incision is easily hidden beneath most bathing suits. Overall, a tummy tuck will likely significantly reduce the presence of stretch marks in the abdomen!
